Project Introduction
Create a Motorway Operations Control Centre Software that can identify incidents and enable operators to respond quickly. The system must immediately update the operator on incident changes and provide simple options for updating road signage.
The Challenges
- Ease of Use: Develop an intuitive transport system requiring minimal training.
- Notification Updates: Keep motorway operators continuously informed of incidents.
- Signage Solutions: Simplify the complexity of creating a signage plan.
- Rapid Response: Ensure quick deployment of signage in the event of a traffic incident.

My Individual Contribution
A Motorway Operations and Maintenance operator was focused on adding value to their business. As a design strategist for Full Stack Energy, I led a team to create an Intelligent Transport System to warn drivers of weather and traffic incidents.
This was a greenfield project for the client. I played a pivotal role in recruiting the cross-functional development team, writing the market requirements document, product design, security requirements, managing sprints and the product roadmap.
In addition to leading the team, I ensured consistent delivery of product value to the customer every week through live demos.
The Objectives
- Develop an Intuitive iPad App: Streamline the installation workflow and improve efficiency.
- Reduce Installation Time: Easy-to-use interface and mobile accessibility.
- Minimize reliance on technical personnel: Designing a system that non-technical users could operate.
- Validate feasibility through live-data prototypes: Ensuring early stakeholder engagement and confidence.
Product Management
The Intelligent Transport System (ITS) manages dynamic road signage in response to real-time traffic incidents.

System Illustration
As the product manager, I diagramed the system architecture, wrote the infosec documentation, contributed to the market requirements document and test plans for technology readiness levels documentation.

- Roadside Systems
- Cloud Web Services
- Traffic Control Room Software
- Communications Traffic Signage
Workflow Design
I created detailed UML Workflow Diagrams mapping the end-to-end process of using Traffic Management Software. These diagrams break down the system into intuitive steps, illustrating how notifications trigger operator responses and flow through checks and balances.

Final MVP Application
Traffic Management Software

System Dashboard
System dashboards provide an at a glance high-level view of the performance of routes and the number of active incidents..

Incident Map
The Incident Map shows the motorway operator the active incident and the deployed signage plan onsite. The adjacent notification center allows the operator to keep up to date and respond to changing events at the scene.

Signage Plan Designer
The signage plan designer allows the motorway operator to create a custom signage plan for the active incident or select from a categorically relevant signage plan from the signage plan library.
Conclusion & Learnings
The use of iterative rapid user prototypes ahead of development cycles effectively validated the product's value and usability. The demonstration of the product prototype to the National Transport Authority received overwhelmingly positive feedback.
The system showcased its ability to swiftly detect and respond to traffic incidents while maintaining high intuitiveness and adaptability.strong> Additionally, its seamless integration with existing traffic management infrastructure underscored its potential to enhance road safety and efficiency on a broader scale.
